SmoothFeather Comes On Board!

Posted by Nipun Mehta on Mar 27, 2007

Ladies and gents, we are absolutely thrilled to announce that SmoothFeather Productions has merged with CharityFocus, become a bona fide "production arm" for KarmaTube, and is going full-on gift-economy mode!

Silas Hagerty, the man behind the lens above, is the inspiration behind the company; many of you might be familiar with his superbly-directed Lusaka Sunrise, or his stunning performance at the Austin gathering, or his presentation at Pifany's or BeTheCause in LA, or his participation at the last Tiger Team meeting, or even his widely featured prior work (which includes features on ESPN and even interviews with Snoop Dogg and Adam Sandler!).

SmoothFeather will be adopt three guiding principles of CharityFocus: 1) be fully volunteer run, 2) not ask for anything , and 3) focus on the small. "Our main goal is to inspire others to create media within the gift economy," says Silas.

Hear, hear!

Have an idea to share, for arguably the first gift-economy production house?!? Want to support the intentions of SmoothFeather in some way -- or perhaps just send along a note of good cheer? We're all ears.

It's really exciting to see how you've evolved smoothfeather from those few recreational music videos in New England years ago into the international non-for-profit media organization it is today. Your selfless endeavors and motivation to affect the world in a positive way is inspirational, and it's an honor to have worked with you.

I checked out Lusaka Sunrise and Joe's Journey - both amazing videos.
I will be anxiously looking forward to whatever comes next. I'm sure it'll be great!

I'm a beginner videographer that is getting into it for the sole purpose of using it as a medium for positive change in the world. My dream is to be able to get to the point where you guys are.

Keep raising the bar for me!
