After many months of ambivalence around Karma Kitchen possibilities at Taste of Himalayas, we're finally read to rock it!  Sundays lunch, 11AM-3PM, North Berkeley.

And that too, in style. This time, we won't pay rent for the space. That's right -- Rajen Thappa, the owner, wants a piece of the gift-economy risk and a piece of the good karma. :) While previously we had a fixed "rent" for each night, we now are fully on the trust model, paying whatever we are able. While we're formally on a six-week trial period, both KK nor Taste of Himalayas expect it to last well beyond it (given low opportunity cost for Sunday lunch at ToH and CF's social capital strength).  And we get bunch of upgrades too -- the space is bigger, location is nicer, and parking is easier, the chef is none other than Vishnu-ji, and opportunities for generosity are abundant.

So let's see, if we're able to pass the four stages of sustainability, like last time and make it a win-win for all parties involved. The good news is that we've got 40 volunteers who've already committed to serving regularly!

Here's a photo of some of the volunteers at our recent meeting that Moses hosted at an arti-collective:
