Dear Friends,
It was truly a delight to experience AGNT conference last weekend with all of you! Silas, Suzanne, Pancho, Sukh and I were not only deeply moved but felt a joyous renewal of our connection to the spirit of service. Thank you.
The audio of our talks is online and if you'd like to get more involved, here are some recommendations from each one of us ...
Nipun Mehta, CharityFocus
Silas Hagerty, SmoothFeather
- Host a screening. Watch the gift-economy films of SmoothFeather and get some people together in your local community to explore some of these important social issues.
- Volunteer. If you're a graphic designer, help create the artwork for the upcoming box-set DVD.
- Spread the word. If you know filmmakers interested in giving freely, email Silas at silas@smoothfeather.com
Suzanne Schafer, Karma Dharma
- Take time to meditate. If you have any questions and/or would like some guidance, feel free to contact Suzanne at suzanne@outofyourmind.com
- Do a small act of kindness, particularly with the younger generation. You know all about Smile Cards. :)
- Get a copy of Suzanne's first book -- an autobiographical account of her incredible journey: Bare Naked Bliss
Francisco Stierle, aka "Pancho", Metta Center For Non-Violence
- Learn more about non-violence and explore ways to bring it into your life.
- Watch Fiat Lux, a movie about non-violent resistance to nuclear research. If you have an hour, watch this documentary about Peace Pilgrim.
- Get a flag! If you host regular community events and would like a flag with the earth (like the one gifted to Agape) to spread one-world consciousness, email Pancho at ramospancho@gmail.com
Sukh Chugh, Be The Cause
- Walk For Hope. On Oct 18th, hundreds of people will come together share a bit of their hope for the greater good. Join the revolution! :)
- Connect Locally in LA. If you're in Southern California, check out the Be The Cause site for more information about the latest events from weekly meditation to evenings of awareness.
- Help with gift-economy restaurant! In couple weeks, Seva Cafe (re)starts in Long Beach; if you'd like more info or want to help, email sukh@bethecause.org (For more about Seva Cafe in India, see this film.)
If there are other ways that we can serve you, or your project, or your community, in taking a step towards the gift-economy, do feel free to contact any of us. To reach all of us together, simply reply-to-all to this email.
And once again, thank you for creating the space for us to share stories. I mean, we really couldn't walk from one place to another without receiving a hug, or a kind word, or a gift, or a partnership request, or a heartfelt story -- it was all just incredible. We truly felt blessed.
In service,
Nipun, Silas, Suzanne, Pancho, Sukh
