Thank you for RSVP'ing for Help-The-Homeless event! Quite simply, this event first started when a few volunteers decided to do something ordinary with an extraordinary heart. Tentative Agenda:
10:00     Gather to make sandwiches
11:00     Pack Lunches
11:30     Introduction
11:45     Split up into teams of threes
12:15     Take on the streets
2:30     Return from the streets
2:45     Share stories and perspectives on experiences
3:30     Enjoy the rest of the day!

What To Bring:
Simply bring your open heart, a bag that can carry 10 lunches. If it's raining, bring an umbrella (yup, we've done many times in the rain!). The entire event generally costs about $400 for raw materials; we don't solicit any donations but you can contribute monetarily. If you'd like to bring friends, please have them RSVP so we can have an accurate head count.

  1. From the East Bay:
  2. Exit from the Bay Bridge from the left lane.
  3. Right on Harrison to The Embarcadero.
  4. Left on The Embarcadero to Broadway.
  5. Left on Broadway to Columbus Avenue.
  6. Right on Columbus Avenue, then immediately veer right onto Grant Avenue, two blocks to Green Street.
  7. Right on Green Street one block to Kearny Street.
  8. 1230 Kearny Street, mid-block on the left, opposite San Antonio Place.
  1. From the South Bay:
  2. Exit 101 at Fourth Street/Bryant ("Last SF Exit") and proceed one block to Third Street.
  3. Left on Third Street, which becomes Kearny Street once you cross Market Street.
  4. Diagonal Left on Columbus Avenue.
  5. Cross Broadway, then immediately veer right onto Grant Avenue, two blocks to Green Street.
  6. Right on Green Street one block to Kearny Street.
  7. 1230 Kearny Street, mid-block on the left, opposite San Antonio Place.

Transporation:
Parking is difficult in this area, so try to carpool or take public transportation. Here are useful notes:


For many of us, this activity has not only brought deeper insights into our own lives, but is an opportunity to share of ourselves. Many of the past participants have said that having lunch with a total stranger would have been something that they would never had done, but after doing so, realize that no matter what one's background is, the many connections that all humans share, supersede the fears and assumptions that often blind us from true human connections.
